Telehealth- What to expect
Do you qualify for telehealth?
We must follow federal and state guidelines with both your insurance, AOTA (American Occupational Therapy Association), and NCOTA (North Carolina Occupational Therapy Association).
- If you would like telehealth, please let us know when we schedule your evaluation. We will check your insurance to ensure that telehealth is allowed with your policy. We as a team will decide if you are a good candidate for telehealth opportunities. Some patients, diagnosis specific, are not good candidate and we have to work in our best ethical practice.

- Video and Audio Capabilities
- Most phones will accommodate HIPAA compliant mediums. If you prefer your phone over a computer, please let us know. We will accommodate you. Our team will send you the link to login to. Please login 10 minutes before hand to ensure it works.
- Strong WIFI
- If you have a weak WIFI, please let us know so we can be certain this will be an ethical and enjoyable experience.
- Good lighting
- We need to be able to see your sitting posture, ability to move your upper body/lower body, and current mobility.
- De-Clutter
- We need to see you in an open area so we can see you move.
- Home Evaluation
- Because we are not in your home, we need you to be able to show us your house. We must know what your house looks like; bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, and the door you frequently go in/out of.
- Be Flexible and Ask and Answer Questions
- We are going to ask a ton of questions about you, your life, your home, and things that are difficult for you! We must get all this information for the letter we have to write for insurance. Be open, honest, ask us questions, and be willing to have a good conversation.
