“It went great with Amy. She was great. She’s fun to work with.” When asked if he would return to Amy and LimbTech for his future mobility and equipment needs he responded: “Oh yeah!”
Mary Beth is not able to type due to her disability, so permit me to transmit her thoughts in this Testimonial along with mine as her humble care giver - Mr. Charles Watterson
"Mary Beth had a debilitating stroke on her 13th birthday, playing with her schoolmates and collapsing on the playground. The stroke left her unable to speak or see along with complete paralysis of the left side of her body. X-rays revealed a CVM or Cerebral Venous Malformation, diagnosed as inoperable at the time.
Intense rehabilitation and a month’s on end hospital stay resulted in her regaining partial tunnel vision type eyesight, and an ability to speak, although with aphasia. She lived with these disabilities until age 35, bearing two children and maintaining a marriage. At age 35 she was struck again just like her age 13 episode but worse. As a child she recovered much quicker than as an adult.
In 1995, we were able to get Mary Beth admitted to University of Illinois at Chicago where gamma knife surgery was performed to cut the blood flow off to the CVM. This surgery was successful in preventing further life-threatening bleeds, but the surgery caused atrophy to the surrounding good brain tissue. This atrophy caused slow deteriorating symptoms to an already debilitated body. She was forced to use a motorized wheelchair just to maintain a semblance of normal activity.
We were introduced to the mobility chair world as lambs to the slaughter. No idea of what was really needed and completely at the mercy of the available vendors who seemed more interested in their profit outcomes that the needs of Mary Beth. There was no evaluation by an OTD or anyone that seemed to take great care in Mary Beth’s problems.
We wore out her first chair which she used for about eight years or so. The second chair was sold pretty much like the first except some “technicians” did help us choose the chair. We purchased specially manufactured Mobility Vans to transport Mary Beth and the chair. We have spent thousands and thousands of dollars attempting to create as close to normal life as is possible.
It took moving to southwest North Carolina from northern Indiana to find one of the finest health care and disability specialists in Dr. Amy Siegler and her LimbTech organization.
Our first appointment with Dr. Siegler immediately set our minds to ease. Her attention to every one of Mary Beth’s needs and her problems with her chair were remarkable. Her kindness and patience with Mary Beth were outstanding. Dr. Siegler spent over an hour and a half with us looking over every detail of Mary Beth’s condition and the way Mary Beth uses her chair.
At the conclusion of our first meeting Dr. Siegler had a solution and a plan for a motorized chair to fit Mary Beth’s condition. This first meeting set into motion Dr. Siegler’s evaluation and recommendation for a proper chair which had to have taken hours of her valuable time.
We are so appreciative of the care and concern of this good doctor in moving the process along with Medicare, our private insurance, and the motorized chair supplier. On our own, we could not have accomplished the process in such a short time. We will be forever grateful to Dr. Siegler and her staff at LimbTech.
The new chair has made a remarkable improvement in Mary Beth’s quality of life and her ability to maintain a semblance of normality in her everyday movements. Simple things like the ability to reach cabinets, the ability to be at eye level with those surrounding her, shopping at normal eye level and being safe while performing these actions has changed her life.
Dr. Siegler understands that my role as a husband is to take care of the wife I adore and make life as pleasant as possible with her challenges. I cannot thank Dr. Amy enough so I wish to recommend her as highly as I can. As Mary Beth’s primary care giver, I have been relieved of many burdens and concerns.
Our area of Western North Carolina has no finer doctor in the field of mobility. She is wise beyond her years and her abilities exude confidence that all will be made right. I would be remiss in not mentioning her accessibility in contacting her. She always, always, returns phone calls and emails. Having been a professional in my trade of 40 years, I am just thrilled to work with a professional of her high caliber.
In closing, allow me to express our complete gratitude for Dr. Siegler’s kind and attentive method of dealing with her patients. I wish Dr. Siegler and LimbTech the absolute best in the years ahead and pray for her continued success."
“It was really fast. She’s really friendly. She’s got a good personality. There were no hiccups in the process. I had the chair in a couple of weeks. I liked that I didn’t have to deal with insurance.”
We’ve had more communication and better response for needed supplies since we started working with Amy and LimbTech! For the past few years, I’ve wanted a cushion or chair for my son to help with his posture. Just the mention of this to Amy and within two months, we had an activity chair that has improved Brennan’s posture and really, his quality of life. He can do so many things in the chair that he wouldn’t otherwise be able to do. He sits up so well and straight! He reads in his chair, eats and can look out his window without the help of others since he cannot stand for very long. Amy has improved his posture and comfort in his wheelchair, too. She’s done more for us in the last year than our previous provider did in many! If Amy says she’ll get something or do something, I have confidence it will be done!"

Shannon Chisholm is a prior costumer and personal friend of Dr. Amy Siegler and LimbTech. Through her video she is able to give us a glimpse into her daily routine and demonstrate why MOBILITY MATTERS!
My experience with Amy has been fantastic! Our region was really hurting for a mobile Occupational Therapist (OT) with an emphasis in seating evaluations, especially when Care Partners was closed last year. Amy took the initiative and really helped our clients get the equipment they needed in a timely manner. Her documentation is straight to the point and arrives the next day, if not the same day of the evaluation. Which in this industry is crucial in getting the equipment to the patient within a reasonable time frame. LimbTech's impact on our clientele has been immensely positive for the following reasons: the seating evaluation can take place in their home, and with a lot of our clientele there is great difficulty in them leaving their home; so, this is a huge help to them. Also, during the evaluation, I can see how she connects with the people we are there to serve, and while the evaluation is a serious step in the process there is always room for establishing a relationship with the person we are there to help; and have some laughs along the way! It's important to have the ability to form that type of connection with people, and I see that in Amy. I would highly recommend anyone who is seeking OT services to check her out and give her a call - I know I will!
Although LimbTech is not a traditional setting for fieldwork, as a clinical student of Dr. Amy Siegler I learned many skills that can be applied to more traditional settings. Amy has cultivated LimbTech to be a company that teaches students clinical reasoning, time management, documentation, professional writing and collaboration with peers. I saw a lot of growth in my competence as a future COTA as I wrote letters of medical necessity and provided justification for each wheelchair component. I had to determine the functional deficits a person had and clinically reason which wheelchair, or other DME, components would facilitate or hinder safety and independence. On top of all this, Amy would go out of her way to provide study sessions for the NBCOT. This placement really made me feel prepared for the NBCOT and for future employment.
I am a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and my scheduled graduation date fell in the first months of the pandemic. Finishing school was postponed until Amy with LimbTech provided me an opportunity to finish my internship requirements in order to graduate and start my career. I am grateful to have had this experience and would not be where I am today without it. I learned about the steps one takes to obtain a personalized seating system. I also learned about the importance of matching a client with the best wheelchair or seating system and how this impacts quality of life. As a student with LimbTech I gained much needed experience with actual clients. I am lucky to have been a part of the team to experience helping people get their much needed equipment. Thank you LimbTech for this opportunity!
My experience with Amy has been very positive. Amy works fast and she is very reliable. She is very personable with the clients and their guardians. Working with Amy has opened the door for opportunities that my clientele previously did not have, especially in the rural area which we live in.
Dr. Seigler was one of my favorite fieldwork instructors. Not only did she teach me a lot about the small business side of OT and all that goes into seating and mobility, but she also showed interest in my career goals and offered so much practical advice. It's clear she has a huge heart for students. As an OTA, working with her helped me better understand an OT's perspective and prepared me for the collaboration I have now with the therapy team I work with. She has a very approachable communication style with students, patients, and other healthcare practitioners. Because of her, I felt much more prepared for my first job.
Amy is such a pleasure to work with. Her engaging personality is equally matched by her detailed work ethic. I am so appreciative of her countless hours of advocacy and creative thinking to brainstorm solutions for my patient whom everyone else gave up on. I only wish I got to work with her more frequently. She’s definitely someone you want on your team.
